Supporting teachers to develop a creative and engaging computing curriculum

Digit<all>, a UK charity, was set up in February 2022 to support the needs of teachers, youth, and community leaders to provide exciting, contextual, and active computing experiences for primary and secondary pupils. The charity was born out of the high-performing Park House Computing NCCE Hub which specialised in increasing the update of girls in computer science. The charity now supports over 1000 schools and community groups and has supported over 11,000 teachers and over 600,000 young people whilst keeping all this support free of charge and reaching. The charity focuses on underrepresented, underprivileged & underserved communities that need the support most and ensures that pupils get access to a high-quality computing curriculum through our expertise and specialist knowledge of engaging girls in computing, creative, active and contextual learning approaches.

Digit<all> evolved from the Park House Computing Hub, offering more support for schools and adapting to the needs of teachers. (image of the Park House Computing Hub Launch).

With the announcement that the DfE-funded NCCE Computing Hub Network support will not continue into the next financial year, we are delighted that Digit<all> will still be providing support across the UK with:

  • Face-to-face professional development

  • Face-to-face workshops in schools provided by experienced computing educators, volunteers & ambassadors

  • Face-to-face summer camps

  • Inspiring climate-context resources such as Coding for Climate Action and EcoCode

  • Digital career guidance & inspiration

  • Awards celebrating the success of young people

  • Online professional development

  • Online live lessons

  • Grants

  • Coaching and mentoring

…and so much more.

We understand the demands and continued need to upskill teachers in computing to help develop and accelerate the digital leaders and innovators of tomorrow. We are so proud to be providing this support now and into the future. Through our role working with digital organisations, we have analysed and identified future skills needed for future digital roles enabling Digit<all> to create archetypes such as:

  • Digit<all> Citizen

  • Digit<all> Creative

  • Digit<all> Defender

  • Digit<all> Scientist

  • Digit<all> Engineer

The free support which we are committed to providing schools across the UK and beyond wouldn't be possible without our collaboration with industry experts. As a proud partner of Amazon Future Engineer and with the additional support provided by UKRI, 8x8, Didcot PowerHouse, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Greenham Trust, and Jonas Software, we continue to provide holistic support for schools and communities to provide exceptional computing experiences for the young people they look after.

If you are or know a teacher who needs support to develop their subject knowledge and help to develop creative and inspiring learning opportunities for young people, do let them know about the wider support offered by Digit<all> www.digitall.charity.
